Becky McLean
Biography
Becky is the Executive Director of Academy 360 Public Charter School and has been serving the Montbello community since 2013. Becky champions health and wellness programming and strategies using the Whole School, Whole Child, Whole Community (WSCC) model, an evidence-based strategy originated by the CDC. Over the last few years, she helped form the Montbello Collective, a community-based partnership with nine community organizations all working together to offer various wraparound services for the Montbello neighborhood and greater Far Northeast Denver.
Before relocating to Denver from Washington, DC, Becky spent three years working on issues related to nutrition policy and healthy food access. She has also been involved in childhood obesity prevention programming, including a semester with the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition (PCFSN), working in partnership with First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! campaign. Becky received her B.A. in Law & Society and Philosophy from American University in Washington, DC and her Masters in Public Health (MPH) from the Colorado School of Public Health at the Anschutz Medical Campus. Prior to community based and public health work, Becky spent six years managing executive recruiting and administration for a law firm in DC. Becky is a 2018 graduate of the Regional Institute for Health and Environmental Leadership (RIHEL) and joined the Montbello Organizing Committee (MOC)’s Board of Directors in January 2021.
